Too Much Information

We notice flaws in others more easily than we notice flaws in ourselves

Naïve realism

Description

The human tendency to believe that we see the world around us objectively, and that people who disagree with us must be uninformed, irrational, or biased.

Example 1:

During a disagreement about business strategy, a department head believes their own interpretation of market data is the only objective reality, viewing dissenting opinions as misinformed or illogical.

Example 2:

During a strategic planning session, a department head might believe their proposed strategy is obviously the best and that colleagues who disagree are simply not understanding the market or are pushing personal agendas.
