Zero–risk bias

Description

The tendency to prefer the complete elimination of a risk even when alternative options provide a greater reduction in overall risk.

Example 1:

A company might spend excessively to completely eliminate a minor security risk, while underinvesting in measures that would significantly reduce a much larger, more probable operational risk.

Example 2:

Consumers might prefer a product that completely eliminates one minor ingredient they perceive as harmful, over a product that significantly reduces several more genuinely risky ingredients but doesn't eliminate any completely.
