Von Restorff effect

Description

Predicts that an item that "stands out like a sore thumb" (called the isolation effect) is more likely to be remembered than other items.

Example 1:

In a product lineup, a brightly colored or uniquely designed item will be more memorable to consumers than other more uniformly designed products.

Example 2:

In a product lineup with similar features and pricing, a single product with a unique color or a distinct feature (even if minor) will stand out and be remembered more easily by customers.
