Subjective validation

Description

A cognitive bias by which a person will consider a statement or another piece of information to be correct if it has any personal meaning or significance to them.

Example 1:

An employee is more likely to believe a vague positive horoscope or personality assessment if it seems to describe them, even if it could apply to many people (often used in business for team building exercises).

Example 2:

An employee might strongly believe in the accuracy of a personality test result because it mentions traits they identify with, even if the test itself lacks scientific validity.
