Self–consistency bias

Description

The incorrect remembrance of one's past attitudes and behavior as resembling present attitudes and behavior.

Example 1:

A manager who currently champions a new strategy might misremember their past skepticism about it, believing they supported it from the beginning to maintain a consistent self-image.

Example 2:

A manager who publicly supported a strategy might find it difficult to later admit it's not working and change course, because they want to appear consistent in their judgment.
