Description

(Also known as Choice-supportive bias) The tendency to retroactively ascribe positive attributes to an option one has chosen.

Example 1:

After investing heavily in a new software system, managers might overemphasize its benefits and downplay its shortcomings to justify the expenditure.

Example 2:

A company invests heavily in a new enterprise software system. Even if it proves cumbersome and inefficient, managers may emphasize its few benefits and downplay its drawbacks to justify the significant expenditure.
