Description

The tendency to underestimate the time, costs, and risks of future actions and at the same time overestimate the benefits of the same actions.

Example 1:

A software development team consistently misses deadlines because they underestimate the complexity of tasks and overestimate their own productivity.

Example 2:

Consistently underestimating the time and resources needed to complete projects, leading to missed deadlines, budget overruns, and stressed teams. This is very common in software development and construction.
