Placebo effect

Description

A phenomenon in which a sham or simulated medical intervention can sometimes improve a patient's condition simply because the person has the expectation that it will be helpful.

Example 1:

Employees report increased productivity after a new office wellness program is introduced, even if the program itself has no direct impact, due to their belief in its benefits.

Example 2:

Employees given a new "productivity-enhancing" software (which is actually identical to the old one but rebranded) might report feeling more productive simply due to the expectation of improvement.
