Murphy's Law

Description

The adage that "anything that can go wrong will go wrong." While not strictly a cognitive bias, it reflects a pessimistic expectation that can influence planning.

Example 1:

A project manager, influenced by Murphy's Law, might excessively over-allocate resources and buffer times for every task, leading to inefficient planning, though it can also encourage robust contingency planning.

Example 2:

A project manager, overly influenced by Murphy's Law, might allocate excessive contingency resources for every conceivable minor risk, leading to an inefficient and overly expensive project plan.
