Irrational escalation

Description

(Related to Sunk Cost Fallacy and Escalation of Commitment) Making irrational decisions to justify actions already taken.

Example 1:

A manager continues to support a poorly performing employee they hired, investing more time and resources in training, to avoid admitting the initial hiring decision was a mistake.

Example 2:

A manager continues to assign more resources to an underperforming employee they hired, hoping to "turn them around," rather than addressing the performance issues directly or making a difficult personnel decision.
