Illusory superiority

Description

A cognitive bias whereby a person overestimates their own qualities and abilities, in relation to the same qualities and abilities of other persons.

Example 1:

A manager might believe they are a better leader or more skilled than their peers, even when objective measures or feedback suggest otherwise.

Example 2:

A manager might believe they are a better leader or more strategic thinker than their peers, without objective evidence, potentially leading to resistance to feedback or collaboration.
