Illusion of transparency

Description

The tendency for people to overestimate the degree to which their personal mental state is known by others.

Example 1:

A presenter might assume their nervousness is obvious to the audience, when in reality, it's barely perceptible. This can also apply to managers assuming their intentions are clear to employees without explicit communication.

Example 2:

A presenter who is feeling nervous might believe their anxiety is obvious to the audience, even if the audience perceives them as calm and confident.
