Expectation bias

Description

(A form of Observer-expectancy effect) When an individual's expectations about an outcome influence their perception of events or their own behavior.

Example 1:

If a team expects a new project to be extremely difficult, they may perceive minor challenges as major roadblocks, potentially hindering progress more than the actual difficulty warrants.

Example 2:

A hiring manager who has a strong positive first impression of a candidate based on their resume might interpret ambiguous interview answers more favorably, aligning with their initial expectation of a strong candidate.
