Effort justification

Description

The tendency to attribute a greater value (greater than the objective value) to an outcome they had to put effort into acquiring or achieving.

Example 1:

After spending months on a challenging project, team members might overvalue its final output or impact, even if objectively it's only moderately successful, because of the significant effort invested.

Example 2:

A team that spent months developing a complex but ultimately flawed product might overvalue it and resist abandoning it, because of the significant effort invested.
