Cue–dependent forgetting

Description

A type of forgetting that occurs when information is available in memory but cannot be recalled without appropriate retrieval cues.

Example 1:

An employee forgets a specific procedure learned during training until they revisit the exact training manual (the cue) where they first encountered it.

Example 2:

An employee forgets key details of a project discussed in a meeting but remembers them when a colleague mentions a specific keyword or shows a slide from that presentation.
