Choice–supportive bias

Description

The tendency to retroactively ascribe positive attributes to an option one has chosen.

Example 1:

An employee who chose a particular project to work on will tend to remember its positive aspects more readily and downplay its difficulties, compared to projects they didn't choose.

Example 2:

After selecting a vendor from several proposals, the decision-maker tends to remember the chosen vendor's proposal more favorably and the rejected proposals more negatively than was objectively the case before the decision.
