Too Much Information

We notice flaws in others more easily than we notice flaws in ourselves

Bias blind spot

Description

The cognitive bias of recognizing the impact of biases on the judgment of others, while failing to see the impact of biases on one's own judgment.

Example 1:

A manager believes they make hiring decisions completely objectively, but criticizes other managers for favoring candidates from their own alma mater, without recognizing their own similar unconscious biases.

Example 2:

A manager might easily identify how biases affect their colleagues' decisions in meetings but believe their own contributions are entirely objective and rational.
