Belief bias

Description

The tendency to judge the strength of arguments based on the plausibility of their conclusion rather than how strongly they support that conclusion.

Example 1:

If a marketing proposal aligns with a manager's pre-existing belief about what works, they might judge the proposal's supporting arguments as stronger than they are, even if the logic is flawed.

Example 2:

If an argument leads to a conclusion that aligns with a manager's existing beliefs about a market trend, they might accept the argument as valid even if its underlying logic or evidence is weak.
