Authority bias

Description

The tendency to attribute greater accuracy to the opinion of an authority figure (unrelated to its content) and be more influenced by that opinion.

Example 1:

Employees blindly follow a directive from a senior executive, even if they have reservations or see potential flaws, simply because it came from someone in a position of power.

Example 2:

Employees in a meeting might be hesitant to challenge an idea proposed by a senior executive, even if they have valid concerns, simply due to the executive's position of authority.
