Actor–observer bias

Description

A tendency to attribute one's own actions to external causes while attributing other people's behaviors to internal causes.

Example 1:

If an employee is late, they might blame traffic (external), but if a colleague is late, they might assume the colleague is disorganized or irresponsible (internal).

Example 2:

If a manager is late for a meeting, they might blame traffic (external). If a subordinate is late, the manager might assume they are disorganized or unpunctual (internal to the subordinate).
